Abu Jundal sent to judicial custody till Sep 24

Mumbai: A special court here on Monday remanded key 26/11 handler and suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abu Jundal to judicial custody till Sep 24, a police official said. Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Special Judge S.M. Modak remanded Jundal, who was in custody of the Anti-Terrorist Squad, to judicial custody as the agency finished questioning him in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case. Apart from plotting the 26/11 terror attack, Jundal is also an accused in other cases in Maharashtra, including the Aurangabad case, the 2010 German Bakery blast in Pune and an alleged plot to attack the Nashik Police Academy. Sources said that Jundal also met American LeT operative David Headley, a co-accused in the 26/11 attacks. On Aug 13, the court had remanded Jundal to the custody of ATS. He was earlier in the custody of the crime branch, where he also recorded his confessional statement reportedly providing all details of the entire operation of 26/11 terror attacks. Hailing from Beed district near Aurangabad, Jundal sneaked into Bangladesh that month and later to Pakistan on a fake passport procured with help from some Lashkar-e-Taiba activists. Jundal was working in Saudi Arabia before being deported to India in June. He was arrested by Delhi Police on arrival at the airport. IANS
