Aarushi murder: Doctor cites own sex life to bolster CBI case

New Delhi: The Aarushi murder case, which seems to be a never ending saga of twists and turns, has sprung up another surprise in course of the ongoing proceedings. This came in the form of a doctor’s testimony, that sought to strengthen the CBI’s claims that Aarushi’s father killed the 14-year-old and domestic help Hemraj after he caught them in a compromising position. The doctor in question, a MBBS and MD in paediatrics, reportedly conducted the post mortem on Hemraj. [caption id=“attachment_675437” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Aarushi Talwar. Image courtesy: Facebook.[/caption] According to reports in The Indian Express and Mumbai Mirror, Dr Naresh Raj claimed that the fact that Hemraj’s penis was swollen when his body was found means that he was either going to have sexual intercourse or was in the middle of it. Dr Raj told the Ghaziabad sessions court: “Hemraj’s penis being swollen meant that either he was having intercourse, or was about to, when he was killed.” However, he said he was basing his conclusion not on any medical authority but on the ’experiences from his married life’. When the defence contested his claim citing a book called Modi’s Medical Jurisprudence and Toxicology which says that 12, 36 or 48 hours after death, a man’s abdomen gets slightly distended and his penis and scrotum swells up severely, the doctor reiterated that his conclusion was based on the experiences from his own married life. However, he chose to firmly stand by his speculation. The Indian Express quotes:

In response to defence question, Dr Raj told court, “I think of Modi’s Medical Jurisprudence Toxicology as an authority. I am married and it is on that basis I gave the account. I cannot quote any authority on this.” He added: “It is incorrect to say that there is no connection between the state of the deceased and my marriage.”
