Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday came down heavily on the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack, saying that each perpetrator involved will be ‘punished beyond their imagination.

His comments came during a public rally in Bihar, a day after he held a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting on Wednesday.

Here’s the full text of his speech:

Friends,

On April 22, in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the brutal manner in which terrorists killed innocent citizens has deeply distressed the entire nation. Millions of Indians are grieving. The whole country stands with the bereaved families in their sorrow. The government is making every effort to ensure that those who are still undergoing treatment recover soon.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Friends,

In this terrorist attack, someone lost a son, someone lost a brother, someone lost a life partner. Some of them spoke Bengali, some Kannada, some were Marathi, some Odia, some Gujarati, and some were the brave sons of Bihar. Today, from Kargil to Kanyakumari, our sorrow is the same, our anger is the same. This attack was not just on unarmed tourists—India’s enemies have dared to strike at the soul of the nation. I want to say in the clearest terms: those who carried out this attack, the terrorists, and those who plotted it, will face punishment beyond their imagination—they will be punished. The time has come to wipe out even the last remnants of terrorist strongholds. The willpower of 1.4 billion Indians will now break the back of those who shelter and support terror.

Friends,

Today, from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist, and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure that justice is done. The entire nation is firm in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people of various countries and their leaders, who have stood with us in these times.

Friends,

Peace and security are the most essential conditions for rapid development. A developed Bihar is necessary for a developed India. It is our collective effort to ensure that development takes place in Bihar and that its benefits reach every community and every region. On the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day, I once again thank all of you for joining this program.
