A story about two school principals, from different institutions, indulging in perfectly consensual, adult activities behind closed door shouldn’t raise too much of a fuss, let alone a police complaint.
However, if the two consensual adults attempt to do so in a school classroom during school hours, it does become a cause for outrage.
In a bizarre case that has all the makings of a soap opera, two school principals were allegedly caught in a compromising position in a classroom at a government primary school in Uttar Pradesh by a group of parents, according to a report by The Times of India.
But what makes the story even more ridiculous is that the principals’ ‘misadventure’ was discovered only because they declared school shut as early as 10 am and sent the students home. Surprised at the ‘holiday’, parents of the children decided to go to the school and caught the two ‘on a mattress’ allegedly ‘in an embrace’, continues the report.
The enraged parents lodged a police complaint against the two and an FIR was registered under Section 294 of IPC, pertaining to an obscene act carried out in a public place. This is punishable with up to three months imprisonment, or a fine or both. However, they were both released on bail, but suspended.
On their part, both the people involved have denied the allegations. One of the principals is quoted by The Times of India saying, “The charges are baseless. There is no denying the fact that the woman had come to the school. Everything else is fabricated."
