A legend is no more: Marathi poet Mangesh Padgaonkar passes away
Veteran Marathi poet Mahesh Padgaonkar, who was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2013, passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness. He was 86.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray paid his last respects to Padgaonkar. The veteran poet won the Sahitya Akademi award for his collection Salaam in 1980. SOLARIS

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid a floral tribute to Padgaonkar. On hearing of the poet's death, the CM tweeted in Marathi, "On behalf of all my citizens of Maharashtra, I pay my homage to eminent poet, Padmabhushan and Maharashtrabhushan awardee Shri Mangesh Padgaonkar. Maharashtra has lost not only a great poet but also a great writer who has added abundant work of literature to the world. With his songs like Sang Sang Bholanath, Bhatukalichya Khelamhadhuni and Shukratara he ruled the minds of people in Maharashtra for over 70 years." SOLARIS
