Ever thought you would hit a jackpot large enough that you would never have to work after that and all this before you turned 30? Well, this man in Kerala did. Representational image.[/caption] Jabin K Basheer, a police constable working in immigration at the Kochi International Airport, had amassed wealth estimated at Rs 8 crore. And Basheer is just 28-year-old. According to the Indian Express , Jabin and a relative, P A Naushad, allegedly smuggled in 1,700 to 1,800 kg of gold, worth at least Rs 400 crore, from Dubai in less than two years. As many as 32 persons have been arrested in a crackdown since 25 May. In an Ocean’s Eleven kind of set up, passengers that were trained as carriers would carry 10 bars of gold weighing one kilo each and drop them off in the toilet or flush tank. Jabin would then hide these bars and smuggle them out and transfer it to his car. His brother would then switch vehicles and drive home with the gold, handing it over to his father who would sell the bars to jewellers. However, the plan was too good to be true and customs have raided properties bought by Jabin’s family and have frozen their accounts.
