Ladakh is a region of great strategic value that shares border with Chinese-occupied Tibet. While Indian military has always been deployed in the region, the deployment has multiplied greatly since 2020 when the ongoing India-China military stand-off in the region began within unprovoked Chinese incursions and attacks. The stand-off, particularly the incident in Galwan Valley in 2020 in which Chinese soldiers killed at least 20 Indian soldiers, has driven the India-China relationship to its lowest point since 1962 when the two nations fought a war.
