Sources told India Today that tremors were also felt in the state’s capital, Guwahati. Multiple reports suggested that the earthquake’s impact even reached parts of West Bengal and other northeastern states, along with neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bhutan.

While no casualties have been reported so far, the quake caused panic among the inhabitants, and many of them rushed out of their homes. It is pertinent to note that the northeastern zone in India falls under the seismic zone and hence is prone to earthquakes.

Shashi Tharoor criticized the US military action against Venezuela and the capture of President Maduro, calling it a violation of international law and the UN Charter. Tharoor warned that such actions erode global norms and could weaken institutions like the United Nations. The US operation, which ended Maduro's 12-year rule, has sparked global debate over sovereignty, power politics, and double standards in international responses.
