In yet another bus accident in Himachal Pradesh, 35 students of a local computer training centre were injured after the bus in which they were travelling overturned in Jawali sub-division of Kangra district on Thursday morning. No casualties have been reported so far. The students were on their way to Police Grounds, Dharamshala, to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Jan Abhar Rally’ which is being organised to mark the first anniversary of BJP government in the state. Among the injured, the condition of five is stated to be critical and they have been admitted to hospital, a district official told PTI. The incident comes a day after four tourists from Haryana were killed and two injured after their car fell into a 200-metre-deep gorge in Theog tehsil of the state.

Thursday’s accident took place months after 30 people, including 27 school children, were killed when a private bus fell into a gorge in Kangra district on 9 April, 2018. Around 45 students of Wazir Ram Singh Pathania Memorial Public School were returning home when the bus skidded off road and fell into the 100-feet deep gorge near Gurchal village on the Nurpur-Chamba road, some 300 km from the state capital. All the dead students were below the age of 10. The bus driver and two teachers were also among the dead. The state, in November 2018, had banned plying of school buses older than 15 years. The age of drivers was also fixed to 60 years and she or he has to undergo eye check-up every year. With inputs from agencies
