25 MNS workers detained for vandalising Bandra-Worli sea link

Mumbai police today detained 25 MNS workers for vandalising the Bandra-Worli sea link, reported CNN-IBN. This comes a day after MNS workers attacked toll booths in eight cities across Maharashtra. Maharashtra police arrested 71 MNS workers, including MLA Pravin Darekar, for vandalising toll booths yesterday. Ibnlive[/caption] The agitation is believed to have started after MNS chief Raj Thackeray, at a function in Navi Mumbai Sunday, urged the people to refuse paying toll. “Don’t pay toll, If they stop you then oppose them, Doesn’t matter if there are long traffic jams,” Thackeray said. Taking a cue from the speech, MNS activists swooped on toll posts in different parts of the state since early this morning, vandalising and stopping the toll collection. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had warned of strict action against agitators opposing collection of toll by taking law into their hands. “(Propagating) violence and indulging in vandalism is not the culture of progressive Maharashtra,” Ajit said in reply to a query on MNS workers allegedly damaging toll plazas in different parts of the state.
