At least two persons were injured in a blast outside a Bengaluru restaurant located on Church Street on Sunday night,Bengaluru police commissioner MN Reddi said. The blast occurred around 8.30 pm on the bustling Church Street in the heart of the city and it was caused by an IED, Reddi said. While the explosive used in the bomb wasn’t immediately known, CNN-IBN quoted Reddi as saying that an improvised explosive device had been used to carry out the blast. Forensic teams are currently investigating the explosion. One person is in serious condition,” he told CNN-IBN. NDTV reported that one of the victims was an elderly woman who had sustained serious injuries while the other had sustained relatively minor injuries. Both persons are presently in a local hospital undergoing treatment. It wasn’t immediately known who had carried out the blast with no group claiming responsibility. Police have cordoned off the area and mobilised additional forces, Reddi said, adding that forces had already been on alert due to a threat perception. with PTI inputs
