Yashasvi Jaiswal played through discomfort and could only scored 15 runs from 16 balls for Mumbai on Tuesday in their must-win match against Rajasthan Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored only 15 from 16 balls before being hospitalised. PTI

Yashasvi Jaiswal was reportedly rushed to hospital soon after Mumbai’s clash against Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Tuesday. Jaiswal experienced severe stomach pain hours after the match and had to be hospitalised in a Pune hospital.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the left-hander had stomach cramps during the game, and the issue intensified after the match. He was taken to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad where he was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

Jaiswal underwent ultrasound (USG) and CT scans. He has been suggested rest and advised to continue his medication. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has not yet officially revealed any details of the situation.

Jaiswal played through discomfort

Mumbai were up against Rajasthan in a must win game in the final Super League match of both the sides in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Jaiswal opened for Mumbai as they eyed to chase 217 to stay in contention to get into the final. The left-hander played through discomfort and could only scored 15 runs from 16 balls. However, Sarfaraz Khan’s stunning half-century helped Mumbai win the game.

Sarfaraz smashed a fifty in just 15 balls to raise the fastest half-century by a Mumbai batter in the tournament. He broke his own record of a half-century in 18 balls, which he made against Haryana in the last match.

He made 73 runs from 22 balls as a No. 3 batter and slammed 6 fours and 7 sixes during his stay at the crease. Sarfaraz added 111 runs for the second wicket with Ajinkya Rahane, who has also completed hit a half-century to guide Mumbai to victory.

Despite the win, Mumbai could not make it to the final as Haryana defeated Hyderabad by a massive 124-run margin to storm into the title clash where they will be playing against Jharkhand.
