A day after he shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from Test cricket, India batting legend Virat Kohli was spotted visiting Vrindavan Dham with his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma. The couple visited their spiritual guru, Swami Premanand Maharaj, on Tuesday to seek his blessings.
Kohli reveals his feelings after retirement
In a video that is now going viral on social media, Kohli is seen having a quiet moment with the guru. When the guru asked him, “Are you happy?”, Kohli replied calmly with a smile, “Ji Guru ji.” The short reply suggested that Kohli is at peace with his choice to step away from Test cricket after 14 years of service.

Kohli’s exit marks the end of an era
Virat Kohli took to his official Instagram handle on Monday to share the news of his Test retirement with friends and followers. His decision to retire from red-ball cricket came just days after India captain Rohit Sharma stepped down from Tests. Both these players, who have been a mainstay in India’s lineup across formats for years, have left a significant gap to fill by the Indian selectors.
There are reports suggesting that Sai Sudharsan may take Rohit’s place as an opener in the Test team thanks to his performances in domestic cricket and in IPL 2025, where he is currently the second-highest run-scorer. Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, is being tipped to replace Kohli in the middle-order.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who played the role of Rohit’s deputy, has reportedly denied the captaincy role as he might not be available for every series due to workload management.
These changes are expected to come before the BCCI announces the Indian squad for a five-match Test series against England, starting 24 June. It will mark the start of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for India. With Gautam Gambhir at the helm, India are all set to usher into a new era without Kohli or Rohit.
