Virat Kohli became the victim of an outrageous catch by Glenn Phillips in his 300th ODI as his innings was cut short for just 11 in India's Champions Trophy 2025 match against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday (2 March).

Kohli made history by playing his 300th ODI for India as he became the first batter in cricket history to play 300 ODIs and a minimum of 100 T20Is and 100 Tests. However, his joy was short-lived after India were asked to bat first in the last Group A match.

Kohli came into bat after Shubman Gill was dismissed early and also saw captain Rohit Sharma walk back to the pavilion quickly. He was looking to build a partnership with Shreyas Iyer when he erred with his shot, playing a square drive on the up as Phillips dived to the right and plucked the ball from the thin air with a one-handed catch.
