IND vs NZ: Virat Kohli creates world record in 300th ODI for India

Virat Kohli on Sunday (2 March) became only the seventh India to play 300 ODIs for the Indian cricket team as he was named in the playing XI for the Champions Trophy 2025 match against New Zealand in Dubai. Overall, he is the 22nd batter in men’s cricket to play 300 ODIs.

By touching the 300 ODIs mark for India, Kohli also became the only cricketer to do so besides also playing 100 Tests and 100 T20Is.

This is India’s final Group A match in the Champions Trophy 2025 and will decide their semi-finalist opposition.

Kohli’s batting innings, however, did not last long as he fell on 11 against Matt Henry as Glenn Phillips pulled doff a screamer.

In 300 ODIs so far, Kohli has amassed 14,096 runs at an average of 58.01 and with a strike rate of 93.40.

Kohli has set multiple records on his way to 14,000 runs in ODI cricket. He is the fastest player to reach 8,000 (175 innings), 9,000 (194 innings), 10,000 (205 innings), 11,000 (222 innings), 12,000 (242 innings), 13,000 (287 innings), and 14,000 runs (299 innings) in the 50-over format for India.
