Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again established himself as the next big thing in all of cricket as he smashed a 15-ball half-century in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) season opening win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Monday in Guwahati.
The 15-year-old flexed his muscles to slam four fours and five sixes in his entertaining innings which left fans and experts with their jaw dropped. The left-hander from Bihar has been scoring big runs wherever he has gone and with his IPL exploits for a second straight year, he has proved that he is ready for the next level.
It is hard to believe that a 15-year-old is taking the best bowlers in the world to the cleaners and he has been doing this mind-boggling stuff for the past few years now. Here we take a look 10 incredible feats that this young boy has achieved at the age where most people are still struggling with their studies.

Second fastest IPL century
Sooryavanshi had just turned 14 when he smacked a 35-ball century in the IPL last season against Gujarat Titans in a bowling attack consisting of Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore. This knock made Sooryavanshi a household name as it was the second fastest century in the history of IPL.
It is just out of this world that so many greats have played this league but only Chris Gayle has a faster century than a 14-year-old!

Sooryavanshi, at 15, now has only Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 balls), KL Rahul, Pat Cummins and Romario Shepherd (all 14 balls), ahead of him in terms of a quicker fifty in the IPL. And he achieved this feat on a pitch where a star-studded CSK batting line-up was bowled out for just 127.
Youngest centurion in men’s T20
His 35-ball century against the Titans in 2025 also made him the youngest centurion in all of men’s T20s. He achieved the feat at just 14 years and 32 days. In IPL, no one had reached three figures before turning 19 and Sooryavanshi got there five years earlier than anyone.
More sixes than AB de Villiers
In 78 T20Is, the great AB de Villiers hit 60 sixes. Sooryavanshi has hit seven more in just 19 T20s. Of course this is not an apple-to-apple comparison as we have counted De Villiers’ sixes in international cricket and Sooryavanshi’s in all T20s but this does give a context into what madness we are witnessing.
Highest individual score in an U19 World Cup final
Sooryavanshi silenced his critics in some style when he plundered a scarcely believable 175 off just 80 balls in the final of 2026 U19 World Cup against England. It was easily the most incredible hitting display in the history of age-group World Cups as the left-hander slammed 15 sixes and 15 fours.
Youngest centurion in List A cricket
Sooryavanshi’s hitting is not limited to only T20Is. He is also the youngest List A centurion. He achieved this record at last year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring a 36-ball hundred at 14 years and 272 days.
Faster than AB de Villiers
Another AB de Villiers record that he broke during his first List A century was that of the fastest 150 in this format. De Villiers’ 64-ball record for the fastest 150 in men’s List A cricket, was broken as Sooryavanshi reached the mark in 59 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh. Eventually, he was dismissed for 190 off 84 balls.
Youngest Ranji player since 1986
Sooryavanshi made his Ranji Trophy debut at just 12 years and 284 days, making him the youngest to play the tournament since 1986. Alimuddin (12 years and 73 days), SK Bose (12 years and 76 days) and Mohammad Ramzan (12 years and 247 days) are the only three players who were younger than Sooryavanshi at the time of their Ranji debut.
Youngest captain ever in List A cricket
At just 14, Sooryavanshi captained India U19 team against South Africa U19 making him the youngest ever to lead a men’s List A team.
