The Indian cricket team celebrated their 2024 T20 World Cup title with an open-top bus parade and felicitation programme, organised by BCCI, at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, but the icing on the cake was Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma dancing during Team India’s lap of honour.

After the elaborate ceremony at the Wankhede which was packed to the rafters by fans, the Indian cricket team performed a lap of honour to thank the supporters who had been at the stadium since 4 PM.
The energy and love the player received from the fans was something like never seen before as Kohli and Rohit started dancing and were quickly joined by teammates like Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pany, Jasprit Bumah and the support staff members.

“A big thank you to all the people turning up in the stadium and what we saw on the streets is something I’m not going to forget in my life,” Kohli said after the bus parade. “We wanted to get out of Barbados as soon as possible, return to India. Since we came back, what has happened has been phenomenal.”
“They’re like family. It’s been incredible what these boys have done,” India coach Rahul Dravid said reflecting on the magnitude of the victory and reception back home. “Hard work, resilience, never-say-die attitude, constantly looking to get better. Fantastically led by Rohit Sharma. I’m going to miss this love. What we’ve seen today is phenomenal. It’s these fans and people who make cricket the game it is. It’s the greatest sport in the world.”

Team India was handed a Rs 125 crore cheque by BCCI officials at the end of the ceremony as a reward for breaking the 11-year ICC title jinx.
