Rohit Sharma confirmed the news of becoming a father for a second time through a post on Instagram. He wrote: ‘Family, the one where we are four.’

The news broke out early in the morning but the confirmation came in the afternoon that Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh have become parents for a second time. Team India captain Rohit Sharma has not confirmed the gender of the newborn but news reports have stated that he has become the father of a boy . Rohit’s first child, Samaira, a girl, was born in 2018.

Suryakumar, Tilak and Smson send wishes for Rohit

Though Rohit Sharma took time to confirm the development, the good news was confirmed by his teammates Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Sanju Samson. After India’s T20I series win over South Africa at Johannesburg on Friday, Tilak, SKY, and Samson congratulated Rohit through a BCCI video.

“As we are just getting to know that Rohit bhai has just had a baby boy,” Suryakumar said.

Tilak said the whole team was excited. “Very happy, Rohit bhai. We were waiting for this moment. I would have reached there if this had gotten late by a day or two. I am coming soon, and we are very excited,” the youngster said.

Samson added, “Very happy for chetta and his family. Super happy,” before Surya signed off in style. “I think we’ll have to arrange little pads and bats because a new cricketer has just arrived,” he said in a video uploaded by BCCI.

All eyes will now be on Rohit Sharma’s next move.

He had stayed back in India for the birth of his second child but could now travel to Perth before the first India vs Australia Test that starts on 22 November. If he missed the first match, he should be there in time for the second match in Adelaide that starts on 6 December.

In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill are the opening options that India can use, but both cricketers recently suffered injuries in the intra-squad match simulation .

Meanwhile, India coach Gautam Gambhir has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will captain India in case Rohit is not available in the first Test.
