India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has already started practicing ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant has been out of competitive cricket having suffered a horrific car accident in December 2022. Since then, the southpaw has missed some crucial tournaments like the World Test Championship final, last year’s IPL and the ODI World Cup as well.
Pant was recently seen keeping the stumps and batting in the nets as well. The Delhi Capitals skipper himself shared a video of his preparations on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
“Progressing,” Pant wrote on X, sharing the video.
A report published on PTI recently claimed that Pant remains on course for a comeback in IPL 2024. The wicketkeeper recently had taken part in a practice game organised by the Delhi Capitals in Alur, Karnataka.

Following the car accident in December 2022, Pant has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The 26-year-old is working tirelessly to regain his fitness ahead of the next IPL season, expected to start in the second half of March.
“The match was part of assessing his mobility basically. He has been batting at nets for a while and playing in a practice game was more like an extension of it,” said an NCA source, as per the PTI report.

In what capacity we’re not quite sure yet. You would have seen all the social-media stuff, he’s up and about and running well. But in saying that we’re only six weeks away from the first game as well. So we’re not sure if we’ll get wicketkeeping out of him this year," Ponting was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
“But I’ll guarantee if I asked him now he’ll say, ‘I’m playing every game, I’m keeping every game and I’m batting at No 4.’ That’s just what he’s like, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed,” Ponting added.
