Indian wicket-keeper batsman, who has been out of action for quite a while after a horrific car accident, has updated fans on his recovery. The left-handed batsman has been away from cricket for over a year now after he sustained injuries on December 30, 2022. He received medical treatment and after resting for a couple of months, he started his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). His absence was keenly felt by Team India during the Word Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup last year. Reports say he is expected to be fit ahead of the IPL 2024 season, where he will captain Delhi Capitals (DC). Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting also sounded confident that Pant was on track to regaining full fitness. In his latest post on Instagram, Pant wrote: “Seems like you forgot. Let me remind you… Remember when it was hard and it was overwhelming and you felt afraid and still walked alone? You didn’t have the answers then and couldn’t see the way and wanted to give up? You still kept going. Never forget that. #RP17”

Pant is currently undergoing rigorous training to regain match fitness ahead of this return. He has constantly kept cricket fans updated on injury and there was a point when he had to use crutches for mobility. Now, in the recent video, he can be seen running effortlessly without any aid, his journey has been indeed remarkable. In this video, Pant can be observed sprinting with agility and grace, a sight eagerly awaited by Indian fans for over a year. In a recent interview with Star Sports, Pant spoke about the accident and said his initial thought after the accident was that his time was up. “It was the first time I had such a feeling in life. At the time of the accident, I was aware of the wounds, but I was lucky as it could have been even more serious,” he said.
