Ramandeep had earned his maiden India call-up for the T20I tour of South Africa along with Vijaykumar Vyshak after starring in Kolkata Knight Riders’ triumph in the Indian Premier League as well as for India A in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup recently.

The Proteas, meanwhile, made one change of their own, bringing in seamer Lutho Sipamla in place of leg-spinner Nqabayomzi Peter. It was the third time in as many games in this series that South Africa won the toss, with skipper Aiden Markram opting to field on all three occasions.

The four-match series currently is tied at 1-1. India had thrashed South Africa in the series opener in Durban by 61 runs, only for the Proteas to fight back in Gqeberha with a thrilling three-wicket victory. Opener Sanju Samson had starred in India’s victory with a second consecutive T20I hundred while Varun Chakravarthy’s brilliant 5/17 in the second T20I went in vain thanks to Tristan Stubbs’ unbeaten 47.
