Mumbai Indians IPL 2025: Full list of retained and released players

Mumbai Indians IPL 2025 retained and released players list: Five time champions MI decided to retain Jasprit Bumrah at the highest slot of Rs 18 crore and also retained skipper Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.

Mumbai Indians’ list of retained and released players: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians retained former skipper Rohit Sharma alongside current captain Hardik Pandya, India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as well as Tilak Varma ahead of the mega auction for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Bumrah is the top retention at Rs 18 crore while the trio of Hardik, Rohit and Surya have been retained at Rs 16.3 crore each. Middle-order batter Tilak has been retained at Rs 8 crore.

Rohit was widely believed to have played his final game for MI during their last league match of the 17th season, against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium. However, it appears the franchise intends for the ‘Hitman’ to continue at the franchise instead of heading elsewhere.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, however, has once again been released ahead of a mega-auction. He had been released back in 2022 as well, though the five-time champions bought him back at Rs 15.25 crore. Also heading back to the auction pool is Australian batter Tim David as well his middle-order colleague Nehal Wadhera, though one of them is likely to be retained using the Right To Match (RTM) card.

MI’s list of retained players: Jasprit Bumrah (Rs 18 crore) Hardik Pandya (c) (Rs 16.35 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 16.35 crore), Rohit Sharma (Rs 16.3 crore), Tilak Varma (Rs 8 crore).

MI’s list of released players: Dewald Brevis, Ishan Kishan, Tim David, Harvik Desai, Arjun Tendulkar, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Luke Wood, Romario Shepherd, Gerald Coetzee, Shreyas Gopal, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Mohammad Nabi, Shivalik Sharma, Kwena Maphaka.

Which players MI retained before IPL 2022 mega auction?

Three players from the current list had been retained ahead of the 2022 mega auction – captain Rohit as well as Surya and Bumrah. The franchise had also retained West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who would play one more season before announcing his IPL retirement. All-rounder Hardik had left MI ahead of the mega auction and had signed with Gujarat Titans as their captain while his brother Krunal signed with Lucknow Super Giants.
