That’s it from us here. We move on to the Lord’s Test which starts on 12 August. Hope you enjoyed our coverage, until next time, goodbye and take care.

Joe Root, England captain and Man of the Match: The weather disrupted what would have been a very interesting final day. Great Test match to play in and watch as well. Sets up the series really well and hopefully we can take it into the next games. We certainly believed we could win. We knew we would have opportunities if we took our catches and kept our fields. It’s a shame it ended this way. There are certain areas where we want to get better in. We have to deal with till the schedule changes and the setup changes. The experienced guys have it easier going from white ball to Test cricket, but the youngers guys might not have that experience. It must be quite challenging for our youngsters, but that’s no excuse. To finally get to my century was a relief given how I played throughout the day. I think India have a very good seam attack and credit to them for the way they bowled. I just wanted to put the pressure back on them with a few shots. Certainly feel full of confidence on the back of that.

India captain Virat Kohli: We were expecting rain on days three and four but it chose to come on day five. It would have been enjoyable to play and watch, but it’s a shame. This is exactly what we wanted to do; start strong. On day five we knew we had our chances. We certainly felt like we were on top of the game. Getting that lead was crucial, but it’s a shame we couldn’t finish day five. Getting to fifty overnight was important. We just didn’t want to play for survival. Our intent kept us ahead. It’s hard work of three odd weeks for our bowlers with the bat. We were talking of a lead of 40-odd but we ended up with 95 and those runs were gold dust. Most likely this will be our template in this series, but adaptability has been our strength. The conditions and the pace on the wicket needs to be seen, but this team will be our template. England and India have always been a blockbuster, and looking forward to the next Test.

PLAY ABANDONED! This was coming. The Test match is drawn! What a shame. This Test was so nicely poised. The first Test of World Test Championship is a draw.

IT IS STILL RAINING!

They have taken tea at Nottingham!

Get them out anyhow. This Test doesn’t deserve a damp draw!

This was how it was looking around 10 minutes ago!

STILL RAINING! Not looking good in Nottingham, it’s very dark. The covers are firmly on.

There you go…..

NOT GOOD PICTURES from boradcast! It’s still raining and got really gloomy in Nottingham. The light is really dull.

Just to remind the viewers, that play can go on till midnight India time, if in case play resumes.

Well, not good news. The drizzle is back on and the covers are firmly in place.

Some good news trickling in…it has stopped raining, inspection at 7 pm IST…

Barmy Army in good spirits despite the damp weather….

Here’s one champion talking about the other champion.

UPDATE: They will be taking an early lunch at 5 pm IST.

While we wait for the rain to stop, enjoy the highlights from Day 4 which saw one of the finest centuries from Joe Root and some brilliant bowling from Bumrah.

It’s still raining and the covers are firmly on…..

Michael Atherton on broadcast says it’s looking bleak. He says the forecast isn’t good. He says that that one thing good is the English grounds have good drainage systems and the groundsmen need half an hour to one hour to clear the ground.

The Barmy Army banter has started!

Well, not the best of news to start off. IT’S RAINING IN NOTTINGHAM. We are in for a delayed start.

This is the weather forecast for today at Nottingham…

It’s amazing the milestones Bumrah’s achieved so far at such a young age.

Joe Root finally got to that three-figure mark at home after a long time with a brilliant century on Day 4. It was after 27 innings that he got a century at home. He hadn’t got to a half-century in his last five Tests. Root said that the ODI series against Sri Lanka in June-July this year helped him get his rhythm back.

“I’ve actually felt a real benefit from playing some white-ball cricket (in Sri Lanka),” Root said.

“It would be nice to have some red-ball cricket coming into this game but, from my point of view, playing 50-over cricket gave me some rhythm back in my batting.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul left India well-placed to win the first Test despite a fine hundred from England captain Joe Root at Trent Bridge on Saturday. Bumrah took 5/64 in an England second innings where Root’s 109 on the fourth day was the centrepiece.

That gave the unorthodox paceman impressive match figures of 9-110 after he had taken 4-46 in a meagre England first innings total of 183, where Root’s 64 was again the top score. At stumps, India were 52/1 in their second innings, needing a further 157 runs to reach a victory target of 209.
