Pakistan all-rounder Aamir Jamal slammed Suryakumar Yadav for his comments after India’s Asia Cup match against the Men in Green in Dubai on Sunday, mocking the India skipper and his teammates as well as the Indian armed forces with a post on social media.

The 29-year-old, who has made 17 appearances for Pakistan since his debut in 2022 including 8 Tests, also directed his ire towards the Indian team for refusing to shake the hands of their Pakistani opponents after winning their Group A match by seven wickets.

Sunday’s showdown at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium was the first meeting between the arch-rivals since the Pahalgam terror attack as well as India’s subsequent military response, codenamed ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Not only did Surya ignore his Pakistani counterpart Salman Agha during the toss, he also did not lead his team out for the customary handshake after the match. And during the post-match presentation ceremony, Surya dedicated the victory to the victims of the Pahalgam attack as well as the Indian armed forces.

The India captain later stated that the Men in Blue are aligned with “Our government and BCCI”.

Jamal accuses India of lacking sportsmanship

“Well when it come to sportsmanship, India will always lack of these things,” Jamal wrote in a post on X. “Just watched SKY presser after the match where he quoted that government, BCCI were on the same page to give a proper reply.”

“That’s not a reply its game of cricket. And if you really wanted to give a reply, you had chance when 6-0 happened. Feeling pity for those who are still proving that they are Indian,” the seam-bowling all-rounder added, taking a jibe at the Indian armed forces.

Jamal, however, isn’t the only member of the Pakistan cricket community who has criticised Surya and the Indian team for their stand against Pakistan, a nation long accused of harbouring terrorist groups and waging a proxy war against New Delhi. Pace legend Shoaib Akhtar and former wicketkeeper-captain Rashid Latif too have expressed their displeasure over the incident, with the former urging the Men in Blue to not mix politics and sport.
