Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2024 preview: Pat Cummins is set to face Australian pace colleague Mitchell Starc in Saturday’s showdown between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
Starc and Cummins became the most expensive players in the history of the IPL during the player auction in December, going to KKR and SRH for Rs 24.75 crore and Rs 20.5 crore respectively, the latter becoming the first player to breach the 20-crore mark in the cash-rich league.
Both teams will be aiming to open their account with a win in the second match of the Saturday double-header. Additionally, both KKR and SRH are set for a change in leadership in the 17th season, with Cummins and Shreyas Iyer replacing Aiden Markram and Nitish Rana as captain of SRH and KKR respectively.
Cummins had led Australia to victory in last year’s ICC World Test Championship as well as the ODI World Cup, which would’ve made him a favourite for the leadership role in the eyes of the SRH team management despite Markram leading the franchise to back-to-back victories in SA20.
