Batting records were dismantled and milestones were achieved as Punjab Kings chased down 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday at the Eden Gardens to win an IPL 2024 match by eight wickets. This IPL season has witnessed numerous 250-plus scores being scored in both innings of a match but KKR’s match against PBKS still managed to enter the record books for multiple feats – the biggest of them being Punjab registering the highest successful chase in T20 cricket history.
The previous record was held by the South African cricket team who chased down 259 last year in a game against West Indies at Centurion. They have now dropped to the second spot.

Overall, 42 sixes were hit in just 38.4 overs of the KKR vs PBKS match which again is a record for men’s T20 cricket. The Friday game surpassed 38 sixes scored in the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians match in Hyderabad last month and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs SRH match in Bengaluru last week.
