Vaibhav Suryavansh became the youngest-ever cricketer to sign for an Indian Premier League franchise after Rajasthan Royals (RR) snapped him up for Rs 1.10 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on Monday. The Royals and the Delhi Capitals were involved in a bidding war for Vaibhav, before the inaugural champions completed the signing of the 13-year-old. So, who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

All you need to know about Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on 27 October, 2011 in Tajpur village located in Bihar. He took up playing cricket when he was just four years old. His father, Sanjeev, observed Vaibhav’s keen interest for the sport and built a small playing area in the backyard of their home. When Vaibhav was nine years old, his father registered his son in a cricket academy in Samastipur, a neighbouring town. He soon began scaling new heights in cricket.

“After practising for two-and-a-half years there (Smastipur), I gave Under-16 trials for the Vijay Merchant Trophy,” Vaibhav was quoted as saying by Times of India. “I was on standby due to my age. By God’s grace, I started coaching under Manish Ojha sir, a former Ranji player. He has taught me a lot and whatever I am today, it is because of him,” he added.
