On the second day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, Indian pacers dominated the proceedings. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) purchased Bhuvneshwar Kumar for Rs 10.75 crore, whereas Mumbai Indians (MI) got hold of Deepak Chahar for Rs 9.25 crore. Delhi Capitals (DC) welcomed back Mukesh Kumar via an RTM card for Rs 8 crore.
Without further ado, we take a look at the major highlights from Day two of the IPL 2025 auction:
Indian pacers steal the limelight
Monday was all about each of the ten franchises filling up their remaining slots and for some of them, their focus was the bowling attack. And as it turned out, Indian pacers were in quite a demand. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) fought neck-to-neck for the services of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but neither got the 34-year-old’s services. It was Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who came in at a time when the bid was more than Rs 10 crore and secured the experienced pacer for Rs 10.75 crore.

Deepak Chahar was another pacer in demand and even his former team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) seemed interested in getting him back at one stage, but he went to their rivals MI instead. Mukesh Kumar (To DC via RTM) and Ishant Sharma (To Gujarat Titans) were other Indian pacers who found teams whereas Jaydev Unadkat was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, remember the name
The IPL 2025 mega auction set another record, but this time, it’s not with regards to the money. Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest-ever cricketer to bag a deal with an IPL franchise when Rajasthan Royals (RR) got him for Rs 1.10 crore. Vaibhav is only 13 years old and made his first-class debut for Bihar earlier this year.
The teenager was recently in the news after he smashed a 58-ball century for India-U19 against Australia U-19 in a Youth Test in Chennai. The RR contract could very well be the start of something special for the youngster.
Big names go unsold
While there weren’t many big names who went unsold on Sunday, Monday turned out to be otherwise. A total of 103 players went unsold across the two days of the auction. The list of unsold players included names like former Australia batter David Warner, England’s Jonny Bairstow, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Australia’s Alex Carey, and India’s Prithvi Shaw.

Arjun Tendulkar is back at MI
Barring Mumbai Indians, there were no takers for Arjun Tendulkar, son of batting icon Sachin Tendulkar. The 25-year-old has played four games so far for MI, having taken three wickets, with all three of them coming in IPL 2023, the season when he made his tournament debut.
At the IPL 2025 auction, Arjun was bought by MI for his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
No James Anderson in IPL 2025
Ever since the list of registered players for IPL 2025 was announced, there has been a special interest among fans and experts towards James Anderson. The former England pacer had announced retirement from Tests earlier this year and had made himself available for the IPL 2025 auction at a base price of Rs 1.25 crore.
Anderson’s name, however, failed to even feature during the auction, not even during the accelerated round wherein teams were asked to list their player suggestions.
