Mumbai Indians have roped in Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman for IPL 2025 to replace Allah Ghazanfar. Afghanistan’s off-spinner Ghazanfar has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an injury .
“Mujeeb was one of the youngest ever players to have represented Afghanistan and made an instant impact with the ball leading to an IPL debut at the age of 17. Mujeeb has played over 300 T20s games taking closer to 330 wickets at an economy of around 6.5. Mumbai Indians wish Ghazanfar a speedy recovery and a warm welcome to Mujeeb into the #OneFamily," Mumbai Indians said in a statement.
Mujeeb-ur-Rahman – a right-arm off-spinner – has played 19 IPL matches and has 19 IPL wickets against his name.
Mujeeb will be making a comeback to the IPL after missing the last season due to an injury. Last season he was replaced at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by Ghazanfar, who is still to make his debut in the T20 league.
Ghazanfar misses IPL due to injury
The 18-year-old Ghazanfar, who was bought by MI for Rs 4.8 crore after an intense bidding war with KKR at the IPL 2025 mega auction in November last year, suffered a “fracture in the L4 vertebra” during Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe late last year.
He will also be missing the Champions Trophy 2025.
