Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets on Sunday, in a result that helped Mumbai Indians (MI) qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs. Following MI’s win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) earlier on Sunday, RCB had to beat GT to qualify for the playoffs. However, even Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 101 could not save RCB, who are yet to win the IPL trophy. Kohli and Faf du Plessis forged a 67-run stand for the opening wicket before the skipper departed, and despite wickets falling regularly, Kohli stood firm and a 64-run stand with Anuj Rawat led RCB to 197/5. RCB got off to a good start in GT’s chase, with Mohammed Siraj removing Wriddhiman Saha, but Shubman Gill was unstoppable yet again, as he forged a 123-run stand with Vijay Shankar (53) for the second wicket. It was Gill and Rahul Tewatia in the end who took GT home with five balls to spare. GT opener Shubman Gill, after his century on Sunday, is second with 680 runs. Virat Kohli, too notched up a century on Sunday, and that has taken his tally to 639. As for the bowlers, Mohammed Shami continues to lead with 24 wickets, after having taken a wicket against RCB. Both Shami and Rashid have 24 wickets each.
