India and Pakistan will renew their rivalry when the two teams lock horns in a Group A match of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday. It’s a crucial match for Harmanpreet Kaur and Co after they were hammed by New Zealand in their first Group A match at the same venue on Friday.

That defeat leaves India with no option but to win all of their remaining matches in what is a difficult Group A for them. After Sunday’s clash against Pakistan, India face Sri Lanka (9 October) and defending champions Australia (13 October). Add to the fact that India will need a minimum of four points to qualify for the semi-finals, the match against Pakistan is a high-stakes contest with all to play for.

Pakistan, on the other hand, are coming on the back of a 31-run win over Sri Lanka in their first group match. The last thing India will need is to surrender to their arch-rivals, which would further diminish India’s semi-final hopes.
