India vs England: Ex-India cricketer says Yashasvi Jaiswal ‘even above Sir Don Bradman at this point'

Trailing 1-0 in the five-match series against England, Team India ended the opening day of the second Test in Visakhapatnam with a score of 336 losing six wickets. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the leading run-scorer with an unbeaten 179 off 257. Jaiswal looked quite impressive as he kept a brilliant momentum with 17 fours and five sixes. This was Jaiswal’s second Test century, and the 22-year-old went on to score his maiden double hundred on Day 2. After a half-century in the first Test, Jaiswal got to his century in the ongoing fixture with a lofted drive over the long-on region. **IND vs ENG 2nd Test Day 2 LIVE** Jaiswal received praise from several former cricketers and ex-India batter Aakash Chopra stated that he was ’even above Don Bradman at this point in time.’ On his YouTube channel, Chopra was gushing over Jaiswal’s fantastic performance, and said how he tactically held the Indian innings even as the hosts kept losing wickets. “When spin came, he hit two fours in the first over. After that, he showed why this player is so special. His conversion rate of fifties into hundreds for players who have 10 or more centuries in First-Class cricket, he is even above Sir Don Bradman at this point in time,” Chopra said. Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, Manjrekar said that the left-hander showed discipline when he was on strike against Anderson and always balanced between punishing loose deliveries and exhibiting a composed approach. Read | Yashasvi Jaiswal succeeded where stars failed “It was him punishing the loose balls and that was the most impressive thing about Jaiswal. This was not so much counter-attacking but more Jaiswal batting normally and then progressively starting to dominate. And that was an excellent sign," Manjrekar said. Former England captain Alastair Cook too was in awe of Jaiswal and called him ‘absolutely outstanding.’ During a discussion on BBC, Cook said, “He’s delivered when his side need it. It was an innings of maturity and skill beyond his 22 years.” Jaiswal’s sublime batting helped India reach a solid total of 396 in the first innings of the Visakhapatnam Test.
