India hammer Bangladesh by 50 runs in Antigua after their 47-run victory over Afghanistan in Antigua and are nearly through to the semi-finals as a result! Arshdeep bowls out a tidy final over, conceding just four runs including a wide in the first delivery while getting rid of Mahmudullah in the penultimate ball of the innings. It had been a 50-50 contest in the first half of both innings, but the Men in Blue absolutely bossed the second half with bat as well as with ball to emerge winners by a huge margin!

He then smashes Axar for two sixes in the following over, smashing the ball straight down the ground on both occasions. Despite 27 runs coming in the last two overs, Bangladesh are left needing 60 to win off 12 balls.

Shanto attempts to heave it towards the leg side, only to get a thick edge towards third man, where Arshdeep completes a regulation catch. Outstanding over from Bumrah, conceding just two singles while collecting his first wicket, as Bangladesh are left needing another 87 to win from 30 with five wickets in hand, who looks quite tough with their set batter gone.

And once again Kuldeep makes up for it by collecting a wicket in the subsequent over, this time getting rid of Shakib — right after getting hit for a six straight down the ground at that. The left-arm wrist spinner signs off with superb figures of 3/19 at the end of his quota. Bangladesh finally reach 100, but are left needing 97 off 36.

OUT! Third wicket for Kuldeep Yadav in as many overs and this is turning out to be a match-winning spell from the left-arm wrist spinner! Shakib had smashed him for a six straight down the ground in the previous delivery and looks to mete out a similar treatment next ball. Only this time he gets a thick leading edge that sends the ball high in the air near extra cover. Missed the ball completely while attempting to smash the ball towards deep midwicket after getting down on one knee and was hit right in front of off as a result. Got three reds on ball-tracking. Shakib Al Hasan joins captain Shanto at the centre. Jadeja, meanwhile, had conceded nine in the previous over including a boundary to Shanto, firing a short, wide delivery that was promptly slapped in front of square.

Bangladesh reach 67/2 at the halfway stage as drinks are brought to the field, and will need a few big overs now if they are to stay in the contest. FIFTY UP FOR HARDIK PANDYA — his first of the ongoing T20 World Cup! The all-rounder brings up the milestone in 27 deliveries with a four off the last ball as India post 196/5 after Bangladesh opt to field!

Excellent finish for Team India, with 76 runs coming in the last six overs of the innings. Tanzim signed off as the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers with 2/32, conceding eight in his final over including a six to Pandya in the fourth delivery — a slower ball smashed towards deep midwicket. ‘Fizz’ then goes for 18 in the final over of the innings that includes three fours — the last of which brings up Pandya’s fifty. To make matters worse, he oversteps in the fourth delivery and bowls a wide outside off two balls later.

Bangladesh had the opportunity to restrict India to less than 180 after reducing them to 77/3 following Tanzim’s twin-strike. The flurry of runs in the last few overs, however, will have put the Bangladeshi batters under a lot more pressure.

Dube picks a slower delivery from Tanzim and smashes it straight down the ground and collects his third maximum in the following over after pulling a half-tracker from Rishad over deep midwicket, bringing up fifty of the partnership with Pandya. Mahedi proves expensive in his final over after keeping it tidy in his first three, conceding 14 as Pandya smashes him for a six and a four in consecutive deliveries. The India vice-captain lofts a slightly short delivery outside off over extra cover for a maximum. The off-spinner offers width to Hardik in the next delivery as well, and the all-rounder once again smashes the ball through extra cover, this time along the ground for a four.

Shakib returns to the attack in the following over, and this time it’s Dube’s turn to break the shackles as he dances down the track and sends the ball sailing over the wide long on fence. The senior all-rounder concedes 12 in his third, with India collecting 26 in the last two that takes their run rate past nine-an-over once again.

Mahmudullah starts his second over with a wide but keeps it tidy thereafter, restricting Dube and Pandya to singles with four of them coming in the over. A much better over from ‘Fizz’ as well thereafter as he concedes just five singles after conceding 25 in his first two overs.

Big over for India, just what India needed after losing Kohli and SKY in one over, as Pant plunders 14 runs in Mustafizur’s second over with two fours and a six! Drives a full, wide delivery from the left-arm seamer past the diving fielder at cover. ‘Fizz’ switches to round the wicket later and once again bowls full, and the southpaw this time muscles the ball over deep midwicket for a six! The keeper-batter guides a low full toss towards the backward square leg fence to collect his second four of the over.

The carnage continues in the following over as Pant smashes a six and a four off successive deliveries from Rishad Hossain. It’s a one-handed slog down the ground that ends up clearing the long on boundary in the second ball followed by an expansive sweep behind square off a wide delivery. Pant, however, ends up paying the price for a shot too many as he reverse sweeps straight to Tanzim at short third as Rishad breaks the stand. Hardik Pandya joins Dube at the centre and gets off the mark with a single.

OUT! Rishabh Pant departs for 36 as Rishad Hossain strikes! The India wicketkeeper-batter perishes while attempting to reverse-sweep a leg-spinner for the second consecutive innings. Pant later helps himself to his first boundary in the final ball of the over skipping down the track. His strike rate was hovering around the fifty-mark, and he needed to shift gears as early as possible.
