Team India broke several records during their dominant 133-run win over Bangladesh in the third and final T20I in Hyderabad on Saturday. Sanju Samson (111) was the star for the Men in Blue after the Kerala batter scored a 40-ball century , and was well-supported by Suryakumar Yadav (75), Riyan Parag (34) and Hardik Pandya (47).

An unbeaten 63 from Towhid Hridoy and a knock of 42 from Litton Das were the only positives for Bangladesh in their chase, as they were restricted to 164/7 in 20 overs. Let’s now take a look at some important statistics from the third India-Bangladesh T20I:

—India posted a record total of 297/6 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad on Saturday. India’s total is the second-biggest total by a team in T20Is, only behind Nepal’s total of 314/3, which they achieved against Mongolia during the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.

—India scored 47 boundaries against Bangladesh on Saturday. This included 25 fours and 22 sixes, and by doing so, India set a new record of scoring most boundaries in a T20 match. Czech Republic had scored 43 boundaries against Turkey in 2019, and Andhra had scored the same number of boundaries against Andhra last year in a Mushtaq Ali Trophy match.

—Sanju Samson became the first wicketkeeper from India to score a century in a men’s T20I. Ishan Kishan had scored 89 against Sri Lanka in 2022 and that was the previous best by an Indian wicketkeeper.

—Sanju Samson took 40 balls to reach his century on Saturday. That is the second-quickest ton by an Indian in men’s T20Is. Rohit Sharma holds the record of becoming the fastest to achieve the milestone, scoring a hundred off 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.

—Sanju Samson became only the second Indian batter to slam five or more sixes in a single over, with the only other batter being Yuvraj Singh (Six sixes vs Stuart Broad, 2007 T20 World Cup).

—India got to the 200-run mark in 14 overs. India became the second-quickest to reach 200 in men’s T20Is, with South Africa reaching the mark in 13.5 overs against West Indies in 2023.

—India got to their team 100 in 7.1 overs. That’s the fastest they have got to in a men’s T20I, beating their previous record of getting to 100 in 8 overs against West Indies in 2019.

—The 22 sixes that India hit against Bangladesh on Saturday is the highest number of maximums that the Men in Blue have hit in a T20I. India had amassed 21 maximums against Sri Lanka in a T20I in 2017.
