Team India are set to retain the tricolour on their shoulder in their jersey for One-Day Internationals going forward, opting for a design similar to their jersey for last year’s ICC World Cup at home. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had recently unveiled the jersey at an event in Mumbai along with women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
On Monday, the board decided to share images of the jersey design on the Indian cricket team’s Instagram account in a collaborative post with Adidas India , adding that it was now on sale on the manufacturers’ website and in select stores.
“It’s not just a jersey, it’s a legacy! Presenting the new team India ODI jersey. Now available at adidas.co.in and select adidas stores across India,” read the caption of the post.
There were three images that were included in the post – a frontal view of the jersey along with a side profile focusing on the tricolour patch on the shoulder as well as a zoom-in on the BCCI logo that is accompanied with two stars – signifying India’s World Cup triumphs in the format in 1983 and 2011.
Impact Shorts
More ShortsIndia’s jersey for last year’s ODI World Cup, in which the Rohit Sharma-led side stormed into the final unbeaten only to lose to Australia in front of a lakh fans in Ahmedabad, had Adidas’ trademark three-stripe design on the shoulder comprising the colour that form the Indian flag. This design, however, was limited to the shoulder as the three-stripe design on the trousers was in the regular white.
As for the new ODI jersey, the tricolour is splashed around three white stripes on the shoulder. The new design also incorporates dark blue along the shoulders as well as along the waist.
The men’s team is currently playing a five-Test series in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that will conclude in the first week of the New Year and it won’t be until February – in a three-match series against England – that they finally get to wear the new jersey.
The women’s team, on the other hand, will be donning the journey this week in the opening game of a three-match series in Australia in Brisbane.
