After kickstarting the ‘Gautam Gambhir Era’ with a 3-0 T20I series sweep of Sri Lanka, Team India shift their attention to the ODI series that gets underway a day from now, hoping to achieve a similar result in the 50-over leg of the tour before flying out of the island nation.
Suryakumar Yadav led the Men in Blue from the front in the T20I series after beating all-rounder Hardik Pandya to India captaincy in the shortest format, winning the Player of the Series award thanks primarily to his explosive strike rate.

The reigning T20 world champions had won the first two matches comfortably, by 43 runs and seven wickets respectively, the latter in a rain-affected encounter.
In the third T20I on Tuesday, Sri Lanka were well on their way towards a consolation win after restricting India to a sub-par 137/9 and reaching 108/1 at the end of the 15th over. India, however refused to give up till the end and took the contest into a Super Over with a dramatic fightback in the last five overs thanks to their spinners, with part-timers Rinku Singh and Surya bowling the last two overs of the chase.
Spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar would later restrict the Lankans to 2/2 in the Super Over before skipper SKY collected the winning runs with a boundary in the very first ball.
