India captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly suffered an injury scare ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia after he got hit on the left knee during a training session in Melbourne on Sunday. According to a report in the Times of India, Rohit, who was facing throwdown specialist Daya, continued to bat for some more time despite the pain but eventually sought medical attention.
Rohit, who had his knee strapped, then took off his gear, sat himself on a chair as the physio got the ice pack. Although the blow to his knee did not look serious, Rohit seemed to be in pain while the ice pack was being applied. The physios are keeping a close eye on Rohit to make sure that if there is any swelling, it wanes off.
Apart from Rohit, Virat Kohli, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj also took part in the nets session on Sunday and were impressive.

Akash Deep says nothing to worry about Rohit’s injury
The entire Indian team attended the nets session which went for about two hours. The report adds that Kohli decided to face side-armers as well as spinner Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Akash Deep said that these blows are common and that there was nothing to be concerned about.
“Such injuries are quite common when you play cricket and it doesn’t make much of a difference,” Akash said at a press conference on Sunday. “I think this was a wicket for white-ball cricket, so the ball kept a bit low and it was a bit difficult to bat on. But such blows happen and it’s not a concern,” he added.
Rohit, who skipped the first Test in Perth due to the birth of his child, has had an underwhelming series so far. He was dismissed for scores of three and six in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, and managed just 10 runs in the first innings of the rain-marred third Test in Brisbane.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series is level 1-1 after three Tests. India, led by Jasprit Bumrah, won the first Test by 295 runs , but lost the second Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets . The third Test in Brisbane ended in a draw. The fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) begin from 26 January while Sydney will host the fifth and final Test of the series from 3 January.
