India suffered an injury scare on Day 2 of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane on Sunday after pacer Mohammed Siraj hobbled off the field. Siraj felt some discomfort with his left hamstring or knee and called for the physio. Siraj was bowling his 11th over of the innings, which was the 37th over overall in Australia’s innings.

Siraj had a short discussion with the physio on the field, after which he was taken off the field. Siraj was into his seventh over of his latest spell. The 30-year-old, however, returned to the field a few overs later. Siraj had figures of 0/28 from 10.2 overs before he left the field. Once Siraj went off the field, fellow pacer Akash Deep completed his over.
The Hyderabad-born pacer was involved in a heated exchange with Labuschagne and even flipped the bails at the non-striker’s end, where Labuschagne was standing. Labuschagne, too, changed and replaced the bails right after Siraj left the scene.
Siraj also had an on-field spat with Travis Head during the second Test in Adelaide. He was reportedly booed by the home fans when he walked out to bowl on Day 1 of the Brisbane Test on Saturday.
Earlier on Day 2, Jasprit Bumrah struck twice to remove openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney, before Nitish Kumar Reddy saw off Marnus Labuschagne. At the time of writing this report, Australia were 121/3 with Steve Smith (31*) an Travis Head (30*) unbeaten.
The five-match Test series is currently level at 1-1 after two Tests. India clinched a 295-run win in the first Test in Perth before the Aussies humbled the visitors by 10 wickets in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. Siraj had registered figures of 4/98 in the first innings of the Adelaide Test while going wicketless in the second innings.
