Champions Trophy 2025, ICC Meeting Live Updates: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has called for another board meeting on Saturday, 7 December, and will be confident of finally achieving a resolution to the standoff between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Dubai-based global governing body for the sport will also be hopeful of announcing a final decision on next year’s Champions Trophy, including and especially the schedule and venues.
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which returns after an eight-year absence, was supposed to be hosted entirely by defending champions Pakistan. Complications, however, arose after the BCCI refused to send the Indian team to their neighbouring country citing security concerns as well as the lack of clearance from the Government of India.
The PCB had initially refused to accept the hybrid model that the BCCI had initially proposed, which was how last year’s Asia Cup was also held. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, however, has since softened his stance on the hybrid model, though he has demanded that a similar arrangement be in place for future ICC events taking place in India.
Latest reports suggest that the ICC has been able to bring the PCB and the BCCI to an agreement over the upcoming Champions Trophy as well as ICC events taking place in India till 2027 – which includes the T20 World Cup that India will co-host with Sri Lanka.
