An agreement has been reached for the Champions Trophy 2025 to be played in a hybrid model, it was reported on Thursday. As per the agreement between the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Indian cricket team will play its Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai and the rest of the tournament will take place in Pakistan. The ICC has also agreed to PCB’s demand that the Pakistan cricket team will not travel to India for any ICC event till 2027, it was reported by news agency PTI.
As per the report, the cricketing global body reached this consensus on Thursday in Dubai when new ICC chairperson Jay Shah held an informal meeting with the board of directors, including Pakistan, in Dubai's head office.
“It’s been agreed in principle by all parties that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in the UAE and Pakistan with India playing its matches in Dubai. It’s a win-win situation for all stakeholders,” an ICC source told news agency PTI.
As per the draft schedule, the Champions Trophy 2025 will take place from 19 February to 9 March next year, However, the official schedule is yet to finalised.
Meanwhile, Pakistan wanted a hybrid model setup for their team till 2031, but the ICC has granted permission till 2027, the report said. This means that Pakistan’s matches for the 2026 T20 World Cup will be hosted in co-host Sri Lanka and not in India.
