The fate of the 2025 Champions Trophy has been hanging by a thread ever since the BCCI announced in November that the Indian team won’t travel to Pakistan for the showpiece event. A solution to this is the hybrid model, and although Pakistan were reluctant to accept the hybrid model initially, the PCB has reportedly agreed to hosting the tournament in av hybrid model given that the ICC implements the same for tournaments in India till 2027.
This was after the ICC had given the PCB an ultimatum , stating that the tournament would be entirely shifted to a different country or even held without Pakistan.
As per the draft schedule, the Champions Trophy is scheduled to start from 19 February and will go on till 9 March. Pakistan are the defending champions of the Champions Trophy, having beaten India in the final of the 2017 edition.
India have not travelled to Pakistan since 2008 but Pakistan have toured India thrice since then, with their latest visit being for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Pakistan finished fifth in that tournament.
