The International Cricket Council (ICC) will reportedly announce the schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy on Monday (16 December). According to a report in ARYNews, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have resolved their differences and that the negotiations between the ICC and all the eight boards are in the final stages.
The report adds that the PCB’s Board of Governors will convene a meeting on 18 December, where they will discuss issues related to the Champions Trophy, Pakistan Super League (PSL)and the 2025 cricket season. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi will chair the meeting. The future of the 2025 Champions Trophy, to be hosted by Pakistan, was thrown into doubt following India's refusal to travel to the country due to security concerns.
Pakistan were initially reluctant to accept the hybrid model, which would see India play their matches at a neutral venue. Last week, ESPNCricinfo had reported that the ICC and PCB reached an agreement to implement the hybrid model for global tournaments which are hosted in India or Pakistan till 2027. This means that Pakistan will not travel to India for their matches, and India won’t travel to Pakistan for their matches.
The 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup is scheduled to take place in India, with the country also hosting the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup.
India have not travelled to Pakistan since 2008, when the Asia Cup was held in the country. The 2023 Asia Cup was originally to be held completely in Pakistan but was eventually held in a hybrid model with Sri Lanka hosting nine of the 13 matches. India played all of their matches, including the final, in Sri Lanka. Pakistan had travelled to India last year to compete in the ODI World Cup, where hey finished fifth.
