Tryon takes a massive stride forward and places the ball well to the backward point boundary. Tryon is playing a top class innings. But the Indians are hanging in there. Ten runs off that over. SA need 13 runs off 12 balls.

Vastrakar comes into the attack. A quick single. South Africa inch closer. Two runs from that over and the wicket of Luus. Nadine de Klerk is the new batter in. SA need 23 runs off 18 balls.

Tryon comes down the pitch gets a four straight down long off. What a shot. SA need 25 runs off 24 balls. The game is theirs to lose now.

Chloe Tryon comes in to join Luus. Gayakwad bowling the 15th over. Luus gives the charge again but is beaten in flight. Meanwhile ‘Ganati Bappa Morya’ chants ring around the stadium. Luus gets a boundary off the last ball.

Yadav continues. Luus gets a boundary going. This stand is looking dangerous now. Du Preez caught in the deep off the last ball. Big wicket that.

Gayakwad comes back. Du Preez comes down the track and hits straight. It is high but doesn’t get the distance. Chance for Veda in the deep. But dropped. What a miss! Four runs from that over. SA need 58 runs to winnfrom 42 balls. Easy, you would feel.

Yadav continues. Giving the ball generous flight. Four runs off the first four balls. Du Preez advances down the track off the fifth ball, but can’t find the gap. Nearly a mix-up between the South Africans, But Luus safely back at the crease in the end. Four runs from that over.

Pandey back into the attack. Taken for runs by Luus. Two fours in the last two balls. 13 runs from that over.
South Africa Women 55/2 after 10 overs
Yadav continues. Three runs off the first three balls. The fourth ball has du Preez sweeping but there is no connection. An attacking shot off the next ball. The ball goes one bounce to long on. The last ball is a googly and the batter doesn’t pick it. Could have easily chopped it on to her stumps. Four runs off that over. South Africa shouldn’t be unduly worried at the halfway stage.

Patil continues. Luus collects a boundary. Then du Preez hits one forcefully to deep mid-wicket. Smriti Mandhana pulls out an incredible stop at the fence. She jumps up to catch the ball, but seeing that the momentum would carry her over the ropes, flicks the ball back into play. Saves a certain six. Eight runs from that over.

Poonam Yadav into the attack now. Another spinner. Had a fine World Cup, one might remember. She is giving it a real tweak. Du Preez comes down the track to smother the spin. Only three runs from that over.

Anuja Patil comes in with her right-arm off-break. Five runs from the over. The SA women rotate the strike well in that over.

Gayakwad intio the attack. Van Niekerk hits Gayakwad for a boundary off the third ball, but Gayakwad comes back to have the batter stumped. Mignon du Preez comes in. Six runs from that over.

Vastrakar continues. Van Niekerk going after her. Walks down the pitch and hits her to the straight fence twice in two balls, which impels the ‘keeper to come up to the stumps. Van Niekerk gets another boundary though. She is playing a captain’s innings!

Rajeshwari Gayakwad comes in with her left-arm orthodox spin. Van Niekerk tries a fac=ncy reverse sweep, but can’t connect. That was not too far away from her off-stump. A good over from Gayakwad. Only three runs from that over.
