— India Women today:

— Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues’ stand of 98 runs today was the second highest ever in a losing cause in Women’s T20Is. The highest is 129, came between Mandhana and Raj at Mumbai in 2018 against England.

11:54 (IST)

"Pretty buzzed to be honest. Didn't get the start, but to come back the way we did is a pretty good feeling," says Lea Tahuhu, who gets the Player of the Match for her figures of 3/20

11:54 (IST)

Kaur: Bowlers did very well as it was good track to bat. Last 10 overs changed the game for us as we needed someone to score with a good strike rate and build a good partnership. (On Mithali Raj's selection in upcoming games) We are just giving chances to the young girls as we have just this three overseas games after which we are playing at home, so just giving chances to the young girls.

11:53 (IST)

Amy Satterthwaite, New Zealand captain: Hannah Rowe's catch was outstanding. Really turned the game for us. We were just saying "Get couple of wickets, the run rate will start to go up". (On playing in front of the Westpac crowd) It was awesome. There are a couple of debutantes today, and they will probably be pinching themselves.

11:50 (IST)

There was absolutely no hope of a White Ferns victory when Mandhana and Rodrigues were going all guns blazing, as they smashed 98 for the third wicket, but just around the 12th and the 13th over mark with the both falling in quick time and then Tahuhu's fantastic 15th over changed the game on its head. If you narrow it further Hanna Rowe's catch to dismiss Mandhana truly changed the complexion of the match and instilled hope in the Kiwi camp. Spectacular comeback by the home side. Kaur and company will have to bounce back from this defeat and one of the players raise their hands to play the long innings throughout the 20 overs is an area which they would want to focus on in the upcoming games.

11:45 (IST)

ALL OUT! Deepti Sharma is the last wicket to fall and White Ferns secure a 23-run victory in the first T20I of the three match series.

11:44 (IST)

After 19 overs,India Women 136/9 ( Deepti Sharma 5 , )

Five runs are too few at this stage and two wickets in an over is too many in any stage. Kasperek has two to show in her wicket column as NZ inch closer. Some big-hitting in the final over will help India get over the line as they require 23 off the final six balls. Deepti to take strike, can she pull off a miracle?

11:44 (IST)

OUT! Radha Yadav skips down the wicket, misses the line of the ball completely and there was no way coming back. Another easy stumping for Martin. NZ one wicket away.

11:42 (IST)

OUT! India continue to tumble. Kasperek snaffles a very good return catch as wicket-keeper Bhatia hits it hard and straight. Kasperek has to dive low to her left to claim the wicket.

India Women vs New Zealand Women, 1st T20I Live Score: Has Kerr pulled the plug with Harmanpreet Kaur's wicket. The young White Ferns star has shown great valour to float the ball to Harmanpreet Kaur and in the battle of risk vs reward. Kerr receives reward. The Kiwis are jubilant, they can sniff it already. India need 29 off 12 balls with 3 wickets in hand.

The first India Women vs New Zealand Women T20I is being telecast on Star Sports Network. The New Zealand Women-India Women live streaming will take place on

1st T20I preview: The three-match T20I series between New Zealand and India starts on 6 February in Wellington.

The first T20I at the Westpac Stadium also provides the opportunity to visitors to bounce back after a defeat in the last match of the ODI series.

Harmanpreet Kaur will return as India captain after Mithali Raj shouldered the captaincy duties in the ODI series. It will also be India's first T20I match after the semi-final loss against England in the World T20 which led to a massive controversy between Mithali and former coach Ramesh Powar.

Since then, Powar has been replaced as coach by WV Raman. However, Mithali will continue to be in focus and it would be interesting to see what role she plays with the bat in the first match, especially after she was earlier criticised for the team's slow strike-rate.

Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues formed a successful opening partnership in the ODI series and India are expected to continue with the same pair in T20Is.
