A former England cricketer is under police investigation over an allegation of sexual assault as well as claims of attempting to spike the drinks of two women at a London pub.

‘Enquiries remain ongoing’

“Two women are believed to have been spiked with one also allegedly sexually assaulted. A man in his 40s was interviewed under caution on Thursday, June 5. Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage,” read a statement from the Met Police, as per The Daily Telegraph.

The alleged spiking and assault reportedly took place at The Boundary, cricket-themed pub in London’s Chelsea which is co-owned by leading names in English cricket including men’s head coach Brendon McCullum and senior wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler, among others.

According to a report on The Guardian, none of the pub’s star owners were present at the time of the incident, which is believed to have taken place on Day 1 of the one-off Test between England and Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in May.

The England and Wales Cricket Board, too, has reportedly been made aware of the allegations due to the pub’s association with English cricket, but have declined to comment on the matter so far.
