Gujarat Titans’ list of retained and released players: Former champions Gujarat Titans have retained captain Shubman Gill and leading spin-bowling all-rounder Rashid Khan along with the trio of B Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia and M Shahrukh Khan, leaving them one slot that they can fill via the Right To Match (RTM) card. There were reports of Rashid leaving the franchise, with teams such as Mumbai Indians reportedly interested in buying the world-class leg-spinner from Afghanistan in the mega auction next month.

However, Rashid will stay in Ahmedabad for now and remain a key member of their bowling unit with GT also retaining in-form opener Sai Sudharsan, who has been prolific with the bat in the last couple of seasons and had been their top run-scorer earlier this year with 527 runs. They have also retained the uncapped pair of Tewatia and Shahrukh, who are integral to the GT middle order and are also handy with their spin bowling.

GT named Rashid their top retention pick at Rs 18 crore. Skipper Gill has been retained at Rs 16.5 crore and Sai Sudharsan at Rs 8.5 crore. Tewatia and Shahrukh have been picked at Rs 4 crore each, the price that has been fixed for players belonging to that category.

Senior pacer Mohammed Shami, who has not played any form of competitive cricket since last year’s ICC World Cup at home, has been released back into the auction pool by the Titans, who also decided against retaining explosive middle-order batter David Miller and New Zealand batting icon Kane Williamson.

GT’s list of retained players: Rashid Khan (Rs 18 crore), Shubman Gill (c) (Rs 16.5 crore), B Sai Sudharsan (Rs 8.5 crore), Rahul Tewatia (Rs 4 crore) and M Shahrukh Khan (Rs 4 crore).
