Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh recalled his first meeting with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, saying that he felt like he had ‘shaken hands with god.’ Yuvraj was replying to a tweet from Tendulkar where the veteran cricketer had wished him on completing one year of retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday, 10 June. Yuvi also thanked Tendulkar for guiding him in his “toughest phase” and believing in his abilities. Replying to Sachin’s tweet, Yuvraj wrote: “Thank u, Master. When we 1st met, I felt I have shaken hands with god. U’ve guided me in my toughest phases. U taught me to believe in my abilities. I’ll play the same role for youngsters that you played for me. Looking 4wd to many more wonderful memories with you”.

Tendulkar had earlier shared a picture with Yuvraj and captioned it, “It’s been a year since You(Vi) retired… My first memory of you was during the Chennai camp & I couldn’t help but notice that you were very athletic & deceptively quick at Point. I needn’t talk about your 6 hitting ability, it was evident you could clear any ground in the world.”

Yuvraj started his career in international cricket in the ICC KnockOut ODI tournament, 2000. He has played with Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. He is remembered for India’s triumph in 2007 T20I World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. He played 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Tests and registered 11,778 runs across all three formats. In his interaction with Kevin Pietersen on Instagram last month, Yuvraj said that he would prefer mentoring and coaching young cricketers over commentary.
