The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that India will be following every uniform-related rule of the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the Champions Trophy 2025, refuting reports that the Men in Blue did not want to have Pakistan's name on its kits .
“BCCI to follow every uniform-related ICC rule during Champions trophy,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI. “Whatever the other teams will do regarding the logo and dress code, we are going to follow in true letter and spirit,” he added.
BCCI agrees to follow ICC dress code
The ICC’s dress code rules mandate all participating teams of a global tournament to print the logo of the competition on their kits. These logos also include the name of the hosts and Pakistan are the main hosts of the Champions Trophy 2025.
However, India’s matches during the Champions Trophy 2025 will take place in Dubai, UAE, after BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan due to security issues. ICC has allowed India to play their matches at a neutral venue under a hybrid model .
The news of BCCI not willing to print Pakistan’s name on its jersey went viral after a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source claimed the same while speaking to a wire agency. However, nothing has been officially mentioned by any of the stakeholders.
“BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan. They don’t want to send their captain (to Pakistan) for the opening ceremony, now there are reports that they don’t want the host nation’s (Pakistan) name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body (ICC) will not let this happen and support Pakistan," a PCB official told news agency IANS on Monday.
On Tuesday, an ICC source told Paksitan’s A Sports that India are obliged to follow the dress code.
“It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule,” an ICC source was quoted as saying.
