Despite their 37-year rivalry, India and Bangladesh have met only once in Champions Trophy history. Their clash came in the semi-finals of the 2017 edition in Birmingham, where India put on a dominant display to reach the final.

Bangladesh batted first and posted 264/7, with Tamim Iqbal (70) and Mushfiqur Rahim (61) playing key roles. However, India’s chase was effortless, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 123 and Virat Kohli’s 96 not out. The duo stitched together a 178-run second-wicket stand, helping India chase the target with nine wickets in hand and nearly 10 overs to spare.

India vs Bangladesh: The Tigers’ only ICC win against Men in Blue

While India have historically dominated the rivalry, Bangladesh have pulled off some notable upsets. Their most famous victory came in the 2007 Cricket World Cup, where they stunned India with a five-wicket win, leading to India’s early exit from the tournament. India still consider it as one of the darkest days in their cricket history.

In recent years, Bangladesh have shown more competitiveness, winning three out of the last five ODIs against India, including a close six-run win in Colombo during the 2023 Asia Cup.
