Ben Stokes returned to bowling with a bang as he dismissed India captain Rohit Sharma on his very first delivery on Day 2 of the fifth Test at Dharamsala on Friday. After Rohit and Shubman Gill both brought up their respective centuries and forged a partnership of 171 runs for the second wicket, England captain Stokes decided to take up the matter in his own hands. And guess what! It took just one ball for the England captain to give England their first breakthrough of the day.
Stokes began with a length ball which was angled into Rohit but the moved away just a bit to outfox the Indian captain, beat the outside edge and dislodged the bails by hitting the off-stump.

Stokes didn’t celebrate the wicket in a grand manner, rather had a subdued reaction as he soaked in the congratulatory messages from his teammates. It was the first time he was bowling in nine months. He last bowled in June 2023 during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s.
